Any ideas on jobs to go for?

My friend and I are moving to LA, California next year as a temporary experiment. My friend wants to train as an EMT before we go, so she can get a decent job out there. I'm trying to think of some job that I could train for now and have what i need for a job when I get out there, but I can't really think of anything (and I don't want to be an EMT). Have any ideas? Or any ideas that relate?
